A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US 
The Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers are a group of musicians, educators, and artisans from the tribal communities of Mashpee on Cape Cod, Aquinnah on Martha's Vineyard, and Herring Pond in Bourne. Our performances of eastern social songs and dances have both educated and entertained audiences of all ages in museums, schools, and various multi-cultural events. We dress in our traditional clothing and our songs are accompanied by a water drum and handcrafted rattles. We encourage audience participation and prefer to dance  with the people instead of for the people.


The Wampanoag Nation Singers & Dancers have appeared at Jacob’s Pillow, John F. Kennedy Library and Museum, The Peabody Essex Museum, Cambridge Arts Council, The Mary Baker Eddy Library, Heritage Museums and Gardens, Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, Mashpee Powwow, Aptucxet Trading Post Museum, Stonehill College, Brown University and more.

They have toured throughout New England and as far away as Bermuda, Hawaii and the UK. For three years, they have represented at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, heading up the First Light Float and delivering the televised land acknowledgement. 
There are many opportunities throughout the year to tie in our work to curriculum and cultural events, please consider booking during all seasons.

October and November are our busiest times, please reach out months in advance to book.

River Day 2023 with the Wampanoag Experience Project

Between four and six members of  the Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers will perform, based on location and availability of performers. 

If you see that we are booked on a day that you are interested in having us perform, please reach out and ask as we may still be able to accommodate your event.

Technical Requirements
​
  • We request at least three microphones (one cordless if possible) with mic stands - and an adequate amplification system for the size of the venue.  
  • A 30 x 30 to 50 x 50 unobstructed area for dancing is ideal depending on the size of the anticipated crowd.

ASK ABOUT OUR NEW PERFORMANCE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE!

Maushop Stories is a 30 minute performance that features four performers including Maushop and Granny Squannit!

This performance can be low tech or high tech depending on your venue.
  • High tech: projector, projection surface, Qlab (ideally) lav or headset mics
  • Low tech: smaller space essential, no tech at all
